If you help anyone cross the street.
If you not only clear your side walk you clears a whole block.
Have run for local office that has no pay.
Setup a blog, group, listserv, twitter feed or website in your community.
Work with pay helping your neighbors doing all manner of day to day.
People count on your to get thing done in your community.
Gave of yourself as an emergency responder especially CERT.

This is the bottom line with regards to all things in the future the Citizen have to get together and form their own agenda as then Biz2.0 Gov2.0 Edu2.0 is all waiting for us.

Looking forward to Tech@State's Civil Society 2.0 initiative

The third edition of Tech@State is coming November 4-5, 2010, in collaboration with the World Bank. The event is already full, but can be viewed online at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/tech-state live and after the event. This Tech@State will address Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Civil Society 2.0 initiative. The conference will explore applications of technology to ensure civil society organizations operate more effectively and collaboratively.

On November 4, 2010, the morning activities will start at the George C. Marshall Center at the Department of State, with presentations to introduce aspects of the Civil Society 2.0 concept, followed by discussions on five civil society topic areas:

  • Democracy Transparency and Civic Engagement
  • Promoting Economic Opportunity
  • The Role of Science, Tech, Environment
  • Disaster Risk Management
  • Civil Society and Government in Fragile States

On November 5, 2010, the "Unconference" will start with breakfast at the World Bank. Opening remarks will be presented by David Weinberger, Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School, and Wayne Moses Burke, Open Forum Foundation. The unconference allows participants to form their own agenda and sessions to more widely share expertise and explore the issues of Civil Society 2.0.
